Birth & Postpartum DOULA

congratulations on your pregnancy!

This time of transition is filled with many emotions - from joy and excitement to anxiousness and worry. As a doula, I deeply understand and respect each person's individual journey to motherhood. I believe that having the guidance and support of a doula during your pregnancy, birth, & postpartum can help you navigate this journey with greater ease and confidence.

My role as a doula is to help you have a positive, empowered experience. I am here to ensure that you feel heard and supported throughout the entire process, from prenatal appointments and childbirth education to postpartum care. Every step of the way, I provide compassionate and informed support to help you make the best decisions for yourself and your baby.

With my support, you will feel empowered to make informed decisions about your care. I'll be there to offer guidance and reassurance whenever you need it. Let's work together to make your pregnancy and childbirth experience one that is both positive and transformative.

What is a dOULA?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help create the most healthy, satisfying, and transformative birth experience possible.

A doula is not a midwife and does not provide medical care.

Imagine this...

You're sitting down with your partner, eagerly anticipating the arrival of your baby. You've read all the books, attended the classes, and create a birth plan that feels just right for you.

However, as your due date approaches, you begin to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. You start to question your decisions and wonder if you're truly ready for what's to come.

That's where I come in as your doula. I've seen firsthand how every birth is unique. There is no one "right" way to bring your baby into the world. What matters most is that you feel respected, heard, and in control of your journey.

As your doula, I'll be there every step of the way, providing emotional support and helping you make informed decisions that align with your values and desires. And if unexpected challenges arise, I'll be there to help you adapt and find the best path forward.

Whether you choose a home birth, a hospital birth, or something in between, I'm here to center your voice and create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your options and make choices that feel right for you.

Together, we can work to create a positive and empowering birth experience that honors your unique journey and helps you bring your precious little one into the world. Let's make this moment unforgettable for all the right reasons.

As your doula, I am here to provide unwavering support and guidance throughout your labor and birth journey. My main goal is to ensure that you have a positive and meaningful experience, and that both you and your partner feel supported and empowered every step of the way.

I work exclusively for you and walk with you every step of the way, doing everything in my power to help you achieve the experience you desire. And I stay with you if things need to change, with continuous, unwavering, nonjudgmental support, no matter what path your labor and birth takes.

PHYSICAL SUPPORT

During your labor, you will receive guidance on positions for comfort and labor progression along with hands-on support like comforting touch, counter pressure, breathing techniques, essential oil application, water therapy, and other “doula magic”. These techniques can help ease your discomfort and make labor more manageable.

Moreover, my expertise in positioning can also help with malpositioned babies. By using my tools for positioning and comfort, you can help encourage the baby to move down through the pelvis and into your arms, making the birthing process smoother and less painful.

emotional SUPPORT

It is my job to make sure you feel supported, empowered, and respected during your birth based on your unique wishes. Whether your birth is unmedicated or medically complex, you will benefit from additional nurturing and connection as you birth your baby earthside.

I will be your guide during the emotional experience of birth to create a space where you can relax and lean into trusting your body and baby.

SUPPORT

Bringing a new life into the world can be a beautiful experience that is shared between you and your birth partner. Whether it's your partner, a family member, or a close friend, having someone by your side during labor and birth can be incredibly comforting.

But while your birth partner may be there to support you, they also need support themselves to be able to show up for you in the way you want them to. That's where I come in as your doula. I can help support your birth partner in being as involved as desired with the birth, providing them with tools and techniques to be an active participant in the experience.

If, for any reason, you have chosen not to include someone in your birth plan, don't worry. I can serve as your partner, providing you with continuous support throughout the entire process.

info & advocacy

Being informed and confident about your options is crucial when it comes to making decisions about your birth experience. As a trained doula, I am equipped with evidence-based resources and information to help you make informed decisions that align with your values and desires. Whether you have questions or concerns prior to or during labor, I am here to provide you with the information you need to make informed choices. With this knowledge, you will feel empowered to use your voice and advocate for the best possible care for you and your baby.

Blessing Ceremony

Modern society has lost the practice of women honoring women during their transition from maiden to mother. Give your transition to motherhood the sacred attention it deserves with a blessing ceremony. Unlike traditional baby showers, the focus of the blessing ceremony is entirely on you and your journey. The ceremony deepens your spiritual and emotional connection with the women in your community. This loving support builds a foundation of strength for you to step into mothering with confidence, encouragement, and peace.

With your closest friends and family members surrounding you, Carolyn will lead the blessing ceremony with sage wisdom intentionally creating an environment that honors your community.

This 2 hour event draws upon knowledge and traditions of cultures from around the world; including (but not limited to): beaded necklaces, essential oils, smoke cleanings, and of course blessings. Rituals and offerings are chosen based on mama's preferences.

Cost: $300

Postpartum Meal Service

Are you wanting a freezer stocked with nourishing foods for when baby comes? Let me help stock your freezer! We will come up with a list of meals together and then I will do the grocery shopping, cooking, and cleaning up. This can be done in your home or I can fix them up in my kitchen and bring them to your home.

Cost: $28 per hour plus the cost of groceries

Postpartum Doula Support

Postpartum doula support in your home - I nurture mama so she can nurture her baby. Includes...

  • Parenthood preparation - Home prep & organization, system establishment, and communication tools.

  • Postpartum education - Quality information about the postpartum period, changes in the body and hormones, and how to cope with the transition.

  • Lactation support - Observing and advising on latch and body positioning to help support successful breastfeeding.

  • Grocery shopping and meal/snack preparation.

  • General postpartum help - Light house cleaning, laundry, companionship, toddler care, etc.
