Postpartum Doula Home Visits
It's common for families to feel a little lost and overwhelmed when they bring a new baby home, whether it's their first baby or fifth baby. You are, after all, welcoming a whole new person with their own unique personality and needs into your family. A postpartum doula will come meet you in your space and act as a guiding light of sorts, to help you find your way on your journey as a new family.
A postpartum doula essentially "mothers the new mother", and every other member of the family, so everyone can feel nurtured and supported in their new roles. A postpartum doula is there to help all members of the family thrive, not just survive, the intense transition of bringing a new baby home. The work of the postpartum doula is not new by any means, however, it traditionally was (or is still, in some cultures) performed by the family's own mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and
close friends. The reality of modern life is, we don't all necessarily live near our families, and even if we do, most of our family members are busy with their jobs and lives, and unable to provide much extra support to the new parents and their baby.
Recent research has shown how vital proper support is to a new family's well-being, and without the support and care from extended family, care from a postpartum doula is the next best thing. A postpartum doula will nurture each family in a way that is right for them without judgement, and offer each family non-medical, physical, informational, and emotional support, as well as provide referrals as necessary to local resources.
Visits are typically 2-4 hours based on each individual family's needs, and services can be provided as regularly as needed, up until the baby is around 12 weeks or so. I provide daytime care only (8am-8pm). I will work with each client to determine the best schedule to fit their needs and priorities.
I offer my services in the Colorado Frontrange area including: Erie, Boulder, Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Niwot, Gunbarrel, Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton, Northglenn, Firestone, Frederick, and Dacono. WHAT PEOPLE SAY
"Jorden came to my rescue a few weeks after I had baby #2. I was in a zombie like state, feeling overwhelmed with a 2-year old and a newborn fighting sleep. Jorden not only cared for both my children while I slept and exercised, but she also spent a lot of time letting me vent and helping me find the tools to voice my needs to my family. After her first visit, I have the distinct memory of feeling revived and thinking: ok, I can do this! Her presence is so calming and she is incredibly knowledgable. So thankful!"
