My Story

Hi! My name is Jorden Mackin and I feel passionately about supporting and empowering women and families on their childbearing journey. I consider it a great privilege and an honor to be able to offer my assistance and knowledge to families during their profound transition of pregnancy and postpartum. I have always been drawn towards a career in helping people, which is why I originally entered the healthcare field as a registered nurse. It was actually during my nursing school labor and delivery clinical rotation I first discovered my love of all things birth, and my interest in the topic only grew and expanded after I experienced childbirth and became a mother myself.

Even though I've always loved all things pregnancy, birth and baby, I didn't get to become a labor and delivery nurse right out of nursing school as I had hoped. Instead, I spent my early nursing career as an operating room nurse. I did, however, try various times throughout the years to achieve my goal, and unfortunately, I never had much luck.

The push to start actively taking steps in pursuing my dreams came after the birth of my 2nd daughter.  About two months after my daughter was born I started struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety, and when I finally turned the corner and overcame the depression about 6 months later,  it was with a clear sense of my purpose, which is to help other postpartum women. At that point, I knew it was time to pursue my true passion in any way possible, even if it meant leaving my nursing career behind, so I started the journey to become a postpartum doula, CLC, and childbirth educator.

Funnily enough, once I gave up on becoming a L&D nurse, I got the even better opportunity to make my dreams come true and help women birth their babies in a birth center setting, when I was hired in early Spring 2019 at Seasons Midwifery and Birth Center.  Now, I am so thrilled to say I get to work with women and families spanning the whole spectrum from pregnancy to birth to postpartum.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my 2 daughters and husband, as well as reading, baking, cuddling with my 2 cats, and taking family bike rides. I would feel so privileged and honored to be invited along on your journey, and look forward to serving you and your family.
